They decided to sow the seeds for a unique two-wheeler personaltransport, which would be affordable to the common Indian man. Armed with knowledge, passion and the fiery and visionary desire of his father who wanted his only son to come back to India to head this project, a young Arun set about trying to understand what it is that the Indian consumer wanted.
A dynamic entrepreneur and innovator, Arun Firodia spearheaded a social revolution in India by changing the way India moves on roads, for the personal convenience of commuters, who were otherwise at the whims and fancies of an inefficient public transport system. The stories of the Luna, the Kinetic Honda and various other products that he dreamt and brought to life are testimony to his commitment to excellence, innovation and citizen convenience. This book aims to capture his drive for innovation, his desire for excellence and his vision in putting India on the global map of innovation. Today, at a sprightly 70 years of age and after being awarded the coveted civilian honor of Padmashri by the President of India, Mr. Firodia continues to be a regular at work, travelling to his Ahmednagar factory, from Pune, twice in a week or more. He is also involved in a wide range of activities outside his responsibilities at Kinetic Group.
Says Arun Firodia, "Innovation isn't inborn. It needs to be cultivated. As an entrepreneur, you need to have a vision that goes beyond horizons and an ear to the ground to ensure that your business is running smooth. There are many factors that will determine the success of your venture. It's important that you start off well. You should have clear plans for the present and a vision for the future. Add hard work to that and you have a formula for success. However, luck and timing play an important part in the success your enterprise. So you should be always looking for opportunities and seize the moments that could have a game changing impact. This is what I have tried to highlight in my book".

About the Author Mr. Arun Firodia
Mr Firodia got his B.Tech with distinction in Electrical Engineering from IIT, Mumbai. He went to the US for his post-graduation and did his MS in Electrical Engineering from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology.) He also did his MS in Management from 'Sloan School of Management' at MIT. He continued the rich tradition of his illustrious father late Shri H K Firodia, the Doyen of Indian Automobile Industry, who developed a variety of fuel efficient vehicles for common people and made them available at affordable prices. The President of India honoured Mr. Arun Firodia with a Padmashri in 2011, in recognition of his contribution to nation building.
Shri Arun Firodia established the "H K Firodia Memorial Foundation" which has instituted "H K Firodia Awards For Excellence in Science & Technology". Besides being the past President of MCCIA, Shri Firodia continues to play a role in several significant areas, such as Chairmanship of the Industry Sector of the National Innovation Council, being the Chairman of the Research Council of Central Scientific Instruments Organisation, Chandigarh, President of 'Pune Citizens' Police Foundation' (PCPF), Member of the Executive Committee of Janawani – A public forum to voice the aspirations of Pune Citizens, Vice Chairman of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Pune, as well as being an advisor to Symbiosis Institute of International Business (SIIB).
