Summary Of The Book
Alma, the exceptional child of a charming botanical explorer, Henry Whittaker, toes the line of her father when she also becomes a botanist who deeply loves the world of shrubbery and science. Soon, the beautiful Alma finds that she unintentionally shares her love for plants with Ambrose Pike, a man who comes from a world very different from hers. Pike is a Utopian artist and Alma, a scientist, would like nothing better than to delve into the facts of evolution. But, because the two share a passion for knowing things, they become a lovely couple. Will the two, given their differing perspectives of life, be able to sustain their relationship?
Written in a bold manner, the galloping pace of the story is filled with unforgettable characters that promise to hold readers spellbound till the very end of the story. The plot of the novel itself is enthralling since it describes that historic moment that marked the transition of the world from the Age of Enlightenment to the Industrial Revolution.
