Tarla Dalal was an Indian food writer, chef and best-selling cookbook writer. She is best remembered for hosting the Tarla Dalal Show and Cook it Up with Tarla Dalal shows on Sony Television. Mrs. Dalal was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India for her work, and she was also awarded the title of Woman of the Year by Indian Merchants' Chamber in 2005. She also published the bi-monthly magazine, Cooking & More, and wrote several books, including: The Complete Gujarati Cook Book, Know your Flours, Italian Cookbook, Healthy Breakfast and Curries & Kadhis.
