The Washington Navy Yard is the former shipyard and ordnance plant of the United States Navy in Southeast Washington, D.C. It is the oldest shore establishment of the U.S. Navy.
An employee at a defense contractor Aaron Alexis used his pass to get into the Washington Navy Yard and went on a deadly shooting rampage Monday (September 16th, 2013). He spraying bullets in the hallways and firing from a balcony on workers in an atrium below. 13 people were killed plus the gunman.
